Text	Hello David I have an AppleMac and I somewhat reticent to edit your web site; I would probably mess it up completely! I have been researching the Cartwright family with two other people and we have checked each other's research so it is correct to the best of our knowledge. We have the Cartwright tree back to Nycholas Cartwright, born ca 1570. Rather than confusing everything at this stage I shall give you what I have on David Cartwright, born ca 1790, and his descendants as he is where the tree on your web site begins. David Cartwright was born ca 1790 at Hading, Wooldale the 3rd of 7 children of David Cartwright and Mary Booth. Grace is not the mother of most of his children. He married Betty Broadbent at Kirkburton on 28 Dec 1812 and they had 4 children of whom I am aware: Hannah, baptised on 17 Aug 1814 at Holmfirth. I have no further information on her. John, baptised on 21 May 1815 at Holmfirth. I a little further information on him if you are interested. James, born ca 1819. He was in the family household in 1841 but I am not sure what happened to him - too many James Cartwrights! William, baptised on 1 Nov 1821 at the Wesleyan Chapel in Holmfirth. I presume from your surname you are descended from William and I have the census details from 1841 to 1891 for the family. William died in 1894. David's wife Betty died in 1824 and he re-married on 25 May 1828; his second wife being Grace Hirst. They had one child, Benjamin, baptised on 11 Sep 1828 at Lane Independent Chapel in Holmfirth. This is where I differ completely from the information on your web site although I would be interested in your source of information for Benjamin being born in Rastrick, for his wife being Mary Ann Battye and their children. Benjamin is my Great Great Grandfather and he married Sarah Ann Hirst at Kirkburton on 21 Dec 1851 and they had 8 children. I am going to digress a little here as the Cartwrights are the reason for my family's longevity; Benjamin died aged 88 Jane, born ca 1855 at Upperthong. I have details of her descendants if you are interested. She died aged 86. Eliza, born ca 1857 at Wooldale. She married Spencer Haigh in 1882 but he died in 1884. They had one son Irvine, born ca 1883 at Shelley. Fred, born at Scholes Moor and baptised on 19 Oct 1858. I have details of his descendants if you are interested. Sarah Ellen, born 1861 at Scholes. I have details of her descendants if you are interested. Ruth Hannah, born 12 Oct 1863 at Scholes Moor. She is my Great Grandmother; she married John Hoyle but these Hoyles are a different family altogether from the Hoyles at Upperthong. Ruth Hannah died aged 82. Emma, born in 1865 and died aged 5. David, born 1869 and died aged 3. Arthur, born ca 1872 at Shelley. He is described in the various censuses as an imbecile but he suffered from spinabifada. Sarah Ann died in 1896 and Benjamin re-married in 1898 to Nellie. I hope I have explained why I think you Benjamin born in Rastrick is the wrong Benjamin and let me know if you would like any other information. With best wishes Stuart
