      Known as Ina

Worked at Munrospun, a well respected knitwear manufacturer in Edinburgh, along with her sisters Nellie and Bessie.

Ina and her sister Bessie were for many years "seaside landladies". FromEdwardian days to the 1950s Portobello, a suburb of Edinburgh, was a verypopular beach resort for family holidays. Each summer their houses werefilled with lodgers from all over Scotland and the North of England.During the "season" everyone else had to double up in rooms and it wasnot unknown for the family to sleep 4 in a bed to free up rooms for thepaid guests. All the family had to help with chores - washing dishes, cleaning, changing beds. There could be up to 20 people in the house atany one time - all this and only one toilet (not even a bath).
