In 1926, he attended Boy Scouts Camp on Lake Erie in Port Dover(Dunnville?). Friends with George Christie, son of his mother's best friend JaneChristie, as well as George Wright, Stan Knight. Picked fruit togetherduring the depression in Winona or Stoney Creek. Played the harmonica andlacrosse. First job was with the National Paper Goods Company and then laterGriffin and Richmond, where he stayed until retirement. Was President ofthe local printing association for a time. During WWII he moved his family into a house at the back of 30 Shaw St.where his mother and father lived. He enlisted in the Air Force, Squadron47. Served overseas as a radar operator. Bill was a very intelligent man who had an incredible aptitude for mathsand sciences. The army offered to send him to any university he wantedafter the war, but he declined and returned to the printing trade tosupport his family.
